Posted on January 28, 2023

My how things can change in only a year. With consolidation and rebranding dominating talk in the timeshare industry last year, our list of the top 10 most popular timeshare names in 2022 has some new entrants breaking into the top 10, as other names are retired into the sunset.

The completion of Marriott’s transition of Welk Resorts into the Marriott family has relegated Welk into the timeshare history books, while Hilton’s rebrand of Diamond timeshare resorts means popular Diamond resorts such as Mystic Dunes now come under the Hilton brand.

These moves filter down into our list, as some names gain an advantage while others shift in popularity. The list is determined by the number of offers placed through our system by prospective owners looking to buy a timeshare, so it is the consumer determining the order of merit.

The main players remain near the top of the list, even if their order has shifted slightly from the most popular timeshare brands in 2021, so the big continue to get bigger. However, there are a couple of surprises.

Our List of the Top 10 Most Popular Timeshare Names in 2022

Below are the leading names in timeshare, counting down the most popular timeshares in 2022 according to resale offers placed through our platform:

10) Hyatt Residence Club – cracking into our top 10, Hyatt was the big beneficiary of the Marriot/Welk move as Hyatt is owned by Marriott. The former Welk resorts were folded into a resurrected entity called Hyatt Vacation Club. Both Clubs will now be powering the Hyatt name as it grew to 22 timeshare resorts overall, with owners able to access over 1,100 Hyatt hotels around the world through the World of Hyatt loyalty program.

9) Disney Vacation Club – Disney also moved into our top 10 timeshare resorts as more Disney timeshare inventory became available on our platform, resulting in over $5million in offers being placed through our system. Remember that DVC points can be hard to come by on the resale market since owners hold onto them for years, and even decades. That’s why it’s important to register your interest with licensed resellers, so you can be notified when points become available.

8) Hilton Grand Vacations Club – Hilton moved up a spot from 9 to 8, as the previously mentioned Diamond acquisition resulted in new Hilton timeshare inventory on the market. Hilton also spent millions improving its New York City timeshare properties such as The Quin and The Central at 5th, a Hilton Club, and now looks after more than 700,000 owners and 154 resorts.

7) Holiday Inn Club Vacations – due primarily to the resale strength of its flagship property, Orange Lake Resort near Disney World, Holiday Inn Club Vacations showed strong on our list even though they did slip from 6 to 7. Now numbering 28 resorts in its program, the company earned a J.D. Power award for providing “An Outstanding Customer Service Experience” with its Owner Support team in 2022 – the first timeshare company to do so.

6) Bluegreen Vacations – the Bluegreen vacation club made a solid move, jumping from the 8th to the 6th spot on our top 10 timeshares list. As usual, Bluegreen Resort's The Fountains in Orlando leads the pack of Bluegreen resorts on the resale market. The company continues to expand with the addition of The Panama City Beach Resort and Spa on the Florida panhandle and inventory at Streamside at Vail Resort in Vail, Colorado. That makes 69 Club and Club Associate resorts in its network.

5) Westin Vacation Club – without a doubt the biggest mover on our list, Westin skyrocketed from 15 to 5 largely due to the popularity of the Westin Lagunamar Ocean Resort in Cancun and Westin Kierland Villas in Scottdale. The iconic Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas was also a mover, but Westin timeshare offers were broad across the board with 10 resorts receiving offers to buy timeshare.

4) Sheraton Vacation Club – dropping ever so slightly from 3 to 4 this year, Sheraton remains an important name in timeshare with the ever-popular Sheraton Vistana Resort and Sheraton Vistana Villages in Orlando leading the way. Scottdale was also popular for Sheraton timeshare buyers as Sheraton Desert Oasis also saw good resale offers. Points programs such as Sheraton Flex have also gained in popularity.

3) WorldMark by Wyndham – WorldMark slipped from the top spot in ‘21 to number 3 last year, but the reality is that our top four timeshare brands all continue to be popular and tend to rotate among the leading positions depending on resale market conditions. As a pure points club, WorldMark offers points, also known as credits, that can be used throughout its network of nearly 100 resorts spanning the U.S., Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Fiji.

2) Marriott Vacation Club – jumping from 4 to 2 on our top 10 timeshares list was a good sign that Marriott continues to be a dominant timeshare name and is as popular as ever. Adding the Welk inventory helped, but Marriott’s 60+ resorts across the U.S., Caribbean, Central America, Europe, Asia, and Australia make it one of the most sought-after programs in the world. Marriott expanded its Asia offerings with Marriott’s Bali Nusa Dua Terrace. Plus, owners can trade vacation club points for Marriott Rewards loyalty points and choose from over 7,000 hotels in 131 countries.

1) Club Wyndham – 2022 was a banner year for Wyndham as they leapfrogged WorldMark to take the top spot on our list of top 10 most popular timeshare resorts names in 2022. Given that both brands are owned and managed under the Wyndham Destinations corporate entity, it’s no surprise that this heavyweight is still the world’s largest timeshare company.

Wyndham Bonnet Creek in Orlando continues to be the leader among offers placed onto our Wyndham timeshare resales, narrowly outpacing the Vegas vacation choice Wyndham Grand Desert. Wyndham Branson at The Meadows, Wyndham Smoky Mountains in Tennessee and North Myrtle Beach’s Wyndham Ocean Boulevard round out the most popular Wyndham resorts last year.

With additions such as Club Wyndham Atlanta and The Moab Resort in Moab, Utah, the club features nearly 150 resorts in its lineup. Owners also have options in loyalty program Wyndham Rewards, with more than 50,000 hotels and resorts around the globe.

These stalwart top 10 timeshare resort brands continue to offer some of the best vacation accommodations in the world, with timeshare resale savings as much as 60 percent compared to buying directly from the resort.

With over 4,000 timeshare resorts worldwide, there are obviously more options than the top 10 timeshares mentioned above, so if you have any questions about these or any other resort, give us a call on 877-624-6889. You can also click here to leave a message for one of our licensed agents.
