Kidani or Jambo – It’s Your Choice

Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas are found on two distinctive resorts. One is called Kidani Village while the other is known as Jambo House. Both resorts are equally well connected on the signature Disney transportation system, which makes it easy to get to all four theme parks, two water parks and various other attractions within the property. Disney's Animal Kingdom Park is the nearest attraction. This proximity gives these properties a unique perspective on a vast savannah where dozens of exotic creatures roam. From patios and balconies throughout the properties, guests may view giraffe, zebras, gazelles and various colorful bird species. It's a one-of-a-kind experience, especially in a setting like Orlando.

When you and your family are not enjoying the theme parks, you'll find plenty to relax and amuse you from these Disney timeshares for sale. Kidani Village boasts the Samawati Springs Pool Area, which is complete with a pool slide. Two Jacuzzis are found nearby, and kids love the water playground. At Jambo House, the Uzima Pool features an oversized 11,000 square foot area, complete with slide, wading pool and Jacuzzis. Several restaurants are found on site at both properties, and guests may take full advantage of a children's clubhouse, playground, jogging paths, arcade, fitness center and spa.

Unique, Safari-Style Accommodations

Accommodations at both properties range from studios and one-bedroom suites to two- and three-bedroom suites. Generous square footage, African-themed décor and plenty of technological features make these deluxe units convenient and comfortable. The suites all have full kitchens, enabling families to prepare fresh, home-cooked meals.

FAQ About Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas Timeshares

How Much are the Villas at Animal Kingdom Lodge?

Because villas at Animal Kingdom Lodge are primarily Disney Vacation Club timeshare units, they are only available on a space available basis to non-DVC members. The Deluxe Studio unit is the standard, hotel-type unit and it can cost as much as $599 a night for a unit with a savanna view, which adds up to $4,193, plus tax, for the week. Larger, multi-room units will cost more, which is why buying DVC points is such as great option for Disney fans who love coming back to the theme parks each year.

Disney timeshare owners can use their points at a variety of timeshare resorts, so owners who buy points deeded to Animal Kingdom won’t be locked into using them at Animal Kingdom every year. However, you will have preferred access to Animal Kingdom villas and can stay in units with varying layouts depending on how many points you own.

For comparison, we’ll look at how much a Deluxe Studio savanna view villa is at Animal Kingdom in terms of timeshare points. The number of points needed is the same for either Jambo House or Kidani Village and is determined by the time of year for your stay. This can range from 97 points to 140 points for a week’s stay during specific weeks throughout the year other than Christmas or Easter week.

Disney’s rack rate for Animal Kingdom points bought directly from Disney is $186 per point. For 140 points, that would cost just over $26,000 for a week’s worth of points. Prorating over a 20-year ownership period, that breaks down to about $1,300 for the week each year.

Disney Animal Kingdom points for sale on the DVC resale market can be discounted for as little as $135 per point. So as a Disney timeshare resale, these same points would cost $18,900 or about $945 for the week – a significant saving.

Even factoring in the annual fees that Disney charges ($8.07 per point) it would only cost about $2,075 for the week, a big saving over the original hotel rate of $4,193 mentioned earlier.

Can You See Animals from Animal Kingdom Villas?

There are wonderful animals that you can see from your Animal Kingdom Villas, but keep in mind that there are two lodges that host villas within the Animal Kingdom complex. Jambo House is the original lodge, while Kidani Village is a separate location within the complex.

You can see animals roaming free from both locations, with giraffes known to roam on all of the savannas within Animal Kingdom. Keep an eye out for zebras, ostrich, gazelles, wildebeest and antelope among the estimated 200 animals and birds on the property. A Wildlife Field Guide can be found in your unit which will help you identify the animals you see during your stay.

What is the Difference between Disney's Animal Kingdom Kidani Village and Jambo House?

Kidani Village is set apart in a separate complex and comprised of Disney timeshare villas, while Jambo House is the original Disney Animal Kingdom accommodation lodge with hotel rooms mixed with DVC villas.

Both have their own lobby for check-in and concierges to help with planning activities and each has its own pool with a pool bar. Jambo House has more restaurant options, as the only restaurant at Kidani is Sanaa while Jambo has four restaurants/food facilities. Guests can walk between the two or take the shuttle bus, since guests at either location can use any of the resort amenities.

Accommodation options at Kidani Village include studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom villas along with the three-bedroom Grand Villas. Studio units have a kitchenette while the larger units have full kitchens with living room, dining area and balconies with either savanna, pool or parking lot views. For DVC points owners, the units with the savanna views require more points, so keep this in mind when reviewing your booking options.

Jambo House has the standard hotel room layout but also has Disney timeshare units with the studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom configurations mentioned earlier. Two differences between the villas and the hotel rooms in that villas are slightly larger than the hotel rooms and also include a kitchenette.

One of the primary differences between Kidani Village and Jambo House is the savannas which they overlook, since there can be different savannas for each location. The Sunset savanna is common area between specific units in the two complexes, but some Kidani timeshare units exclusively overlook Pembe savanna. For Jambo House, there are units which overlook Arusha savanna and Uzima savanna.

Giraffes can be seen at different savannas, but because the savannas are open and connected there are no guarantees that one will be better for wildlife viewing than another. That said, there are about 200 animals which also include zebras, gazelles, antelope and wildebeest among others, plus bird life among over 30 species of wildlife at the resort.

Keep in mind that there are public viewing areas at the resorts so you won’t miss out and can move about to see your favorite animal.

How Many Grand Villas does Animal Kingdom Lodge have?

There are Grand Villas located in both the Kidani Village and Jambo House lodges of Animal Kingdom. Grand Villas are the three-bedroom timeshare units, with 16 located at Kidani Village and six at Jambo House. Of those at Kidani Village, 14 have views of the savannas and 2 have views of the pool or parking area. All Grand Villas at Jambo House have savanna views.

Grand Villas can sleep up to 12 people among the three bedrooms plus the pullout sofa-bed. The condo-style unit include balconies for optimal wildlife viewing along with all of the modern conveniences such as a fully equipped kitchen, living room, dining area, washer/dryer and four full bathrooms.

How Far is Kidani Village from Animal Kingdom Lodge?

Kidani Village is about a half-mile from the main lodge at Animal Kingdom, so it is definitely within walking distance. Kidani is fairly self-contained, with its own concierge, front desk, pool, restaurant and member lounge, so guests don’t have to go to the main Animal Kingdom Lodge if they don’t need to.  There is a shuttle bus that runs between the lodge and Kidani Village, which will allow guests to take advantage of the wonderful restaurants at the lodge such as Sanaa, Boma and Jiko, as well as the multiple savannas on the premises.

Can You Walk from Kidani Village to Jambo House?

Yes, depending on the pace of your walk it should take you 10-15 minutes to walk from Kidani Village to Jambo House. The walking path runs along the parking lots and the Zazu parking lot at Kidani Village is the shortest distance to Jambo House. Total distance to walk is about ½ mile.
