Visiting during the month of July also offers a chance to check out the Waterfront Blues Festival or one of the concerts at the zoo.
Washington Park is the perfect place to spend a day and you can stroll through the Japanese Gardens or explore the wild forest areas. With over 15 miles of walking trails, you can get some exercise and then enjoy a picnic. Another must-see while in Portland is the Tom McCall Waterfront Park on the Willamette River. You can admire the cherry blossoms that line the walking trails or attend one of the concerts on the Central Lawn.

If you don’t mind chilly temperatures, the months of September to November are also beautiful times of year to visit Portland. There are a variety of Art Festivals in September or plan to attend the Northwest Food & Wine Festival in November or the Holiday Ale Festival in December. This is also a great time to check out the Pittock Mansion. The home has 46 rooms and sits on 46 acres of land and is owned by the city. The kids might also enjoy visiting the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry where you can enjoy hands-on activities and incredible exhibits. When you need a meal, check out Mother’s Bistro and Bar or the Multnomah Whiskey Library.
