With a stay at Disney's Riviera Resort in Orlando, Florida, you will be just minutes away from the Disney World dream vacation you’re looking for at a resort with typically child-friendly amenities and top-notch Disney accommodations.
Disney and European touches blend into a seamless timeshare resort inspired by Walt Disney's vacation to the French Riviera, with Disney decorations, European cuisine, and easy access to the entire Walt Disney World array of theme parks.
European Folklore inspired generations of Disney movies, from the early enchantment of Cinderella to the modern adaptions found in Frozen. Now, Disney's Riviera Resort timeshares bring that same European backdrop to your Walt Disney World vacation.
A broad, palm-lined walkway leads you to the grand façade of the resort entrance. The sweeping arches and bold terraces mark the face of the resort before you step into the grand lobby, with its paintings of Disney characters and scenery, and classical 20th-century design motifs. If you like what you see, the resort kiosk has copies of those paintings which you can take home with you.
The resort's two pools offer very different experiences. The Riviera Pool, inspired by Mediterranean resorts, features sun umbrellas for shade near stucco walls. A pool slide whirls around a tower, and children can play in a magical play area inspired by classic European fountains, which showcases Disney's Fantasia characters dancing ballet. In contrast, the Beau Soleil Pool is a quieter, more laid-back pool with shimmering waters and relaxing views of the resort grounds.
Disney's Riviera Resort also has some of the best dining, inspired again by European restauranteurs. Topolino's Terrace is the signature restaurant on site, with its nightly views of Epcot or Hollywood Studios from its perch on the 10th floor. The Lobby Cafe has your morning cup of coffee hot and ready to wake you up, and the quick service bar has snacks and easy meals ready for grab-and-go service. Finally, the Bar Riva pool bar has cocktails and meals which can be enjoyed poolside.
On the activity lawn, fun and games await vacationers of all ages. You can compete against your friends and family in a low-stakes game of lawn chess and bocce ball before gathering around the firepit for an evening of stories and songs. A jogging path loops around the grounds, giving early risers a bit of exercise as well as the chance to explore the resort at leisure. Vacationers can also get their workout indoors, at the onsite fitness center.
Traveling from your Disney timeshare to the parks is easy. The Disney Skyliner gondolas connect the resort to EPCOT and Disney Hollywood Studios, where you can catch the monorail to several other Disney destinations. These whimsical gondolas will take you to the park you wish to visit in style and comfort, rising above the noise and traffic of the streets below.
You can also travel via the Disney Bus system and or park your car onsite for a daily fee if you want to spend time later on outside of Walt Disney World and explore more of Orlando.
Accommodations at the resort vary from the efficient and comfortable Tower Studios which can accommodate two guests up to large 3-bedroom villas which can accommodate up to twelve guests.
Deluxe Studios are slightly larger than Tower Studios and can sleep up to five people. The Tower Studios are designed for maximum efficiency, including a kitchenette with a microwave and small refrigerator built into the wall, and a pull-down queen-sized bed for two. Deluxe Studios are slightly larger and have a kitchenette with a microwave, a small refrigerator, and utensils. They also have a balcony or patio area.
The resort has one, two, and three-bedroom villas available for Disney timeshare owners. All villas have similar amenities including a full-sized kitchen with stove, oven, refrigerator, and small appliances, plus a washer/dryer in-suite. They also offer additional privacy with separated sleeping areas and a pull-out sofa bed in the living room.
Studios and villas can be booked using DVC points for Disney Vacation Club members. This points system allows for easy, flexible booking as well as other perks open to club members.
Via the Gondola, this resort can easily link you to Walt Disney World's popular parks - Hollywood Studios and EPCOT. Once at these parks, you can catch the monorail to the Magic Kingdom or the Disney buses to other parks like Animal Kingdom.
Any Disney theme park is worth visiting, and one of the biggest benefits of staying in a Disney Resort is the early and late access you receive in these parks. By starting your visit a little earlier, or extending it to the end of the day, you can enjoy even more rides, attractions, and sights within the Walt Disney World experience.
Disney World is the original Orlando theme park experience and has been one of the biggest tourist attractions in Florida ever since it opened in 1971. Many visitors to Disney's Riviera Resort plan on spending their entire stay visiting the theme parks and seeing Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and the rest of the Disney Cast of characters. With many restaurants and other dining experiences, this is easy to do, and will never get boring.
However, while it is the most connected, Walt Disney World is far from the only theme park you will want to enjoy while in Orlando. Its popularity has given rise to many other attractions in the greater Orlando area.
