Are you dreaming of exploring one of the most iconic destinations in the Bahamas? If so, then it's time to book a vacation on Paradise Island Nassau.

Paradise Island may be relatively small, but it's bursting with gorgeous beaches and breathtaking views. This quintessential tropical destination may be exactly what you need for escaping the everyday.

Is Paradise Island Part of Nassau?

Nassau is the capital city of the Bahamas. Compared to the rest of the nation, Nassau boasts a larger population and is the site of the Lynden Pindling International Airport. The city is found on New Providence, an island that's connected by a pair of bridges to Paradise Island.

On Paradise Island, you'll find plenty of casinos, beaches, restaurants, shopping and attractions. Plus, it's easy to get over to Nassau when you want to explore farther afield.

In addition to being an amazing place to play, Paradise Island promises an array of excellent options for accommodations. A Paradise Island timeshare offers you the ideal setting from which to explore the best that the Bahamas has to offer.

What Can You Do on Paradise Island?

Perhaps the most popular thing to do on this island is to soak up the sun on the beach. Cabbage Beach is perfectly suited to this experience. You'll find it on Paradise Island's northern side, and with its swaying palms, white-sand beach and turquoise waters, it's an idyllic tropical getaway.

If you go to Cabbage Beach or one of the others on the island, make certain that you bring your snorkel and mask. Opportunities for exploring the underwater ecosystem abound, and you don't want to miss out on any of them. Keep in mind that there are many places on the island at which you can indulge in water skiing, scuba diving, parasailing and other water sports.

If you are looking for something that's quiet and unexpected, plan an outing to Versailles Gardens and French Cloister. Just 75 feet wide, this landscape with multiple terraces is designed in the style of the famous gardens in France. Also on the grounds are the remains of a French monastery, which was initially constructed in the 13th century. They were shipped over to the Bahamas and reconstructed here in the 1920s. Since then, they have remained a top attraction.

Visitors hoping to shop on Paradise Island will want to wander down to Atlantis Marina Village. This open-air mall offers a colorful and relaxed setting in which to browse for everything from beach towels and snorkeling equipment to fine jewelry and clothing. Be on the lookout for luxury stores such as John Bull and Versace as you stroll.

More Highlights

Mayan Temple Waterslide at Atlantis Paradise Island

Did you know that Paradise Island also has two enormous water parks? Both are located within resorts, but they do sell tickets to the public if you just want to spend a day enjoying the attractions without booking a room.

Aquaventure at Atlantis boasts eleven pools, 20 swimming areas and a host of thrilling slides in addition to a river ride. The Mayan Temple, rising six stories out of the water, is the main attraction. Alternatively, Baha Mar welcomes you to Baha Bay, a 15-acre waterpark that packs in more than 30 activities that range from mild to wild. Every member of the family will find attractions that are suited to their thirst for adventure.

While you're in the Bahamas, you won't want to miss an opportunity to explore downtown Nassau. It encompasses approximately 20 square blocks that are teeming with boutiques, historic architecture, colorful murals and fascinating monuments.

Your tour of downtown needs to include The Queen's Staircase, 66 steps carved in the late 18th century to provide an escape route from the fort on the promontory. From there, explore the work of artists in the Nassau Straw Market, tour the National Art Gallery and witness the changing of the guard with the Royal Bahamas Police Force Marching Band.

Other area highlights include the casino and nightlife scenes. The island is home to two of the largest casinos in the Bahamas, the Atlantis Casino and the Baha Mar Casino. The first of these has 700 slot machines and nearly 100 gaming tables while the second promises more than 100 tables at which 18 different games are played as well as hundreds of slot machines.

You'll also find numerous bars and nightclubs, including Skybar on Cable Beach and Bond at Baha Mar in Nassau along with Dragons Ultra-Lounge at Atlantis Paradise Island.

With a well-established population of pigs, this makes for a fascinating day trip that you will never forget.

No one quite remembers how the colony of pigs came to be living on the island by themselves, but the pigs never fail to delight. In fact, millions of people visit them every year, and you'll definitely want to swim with them in the crystal-clear waters. You can choose to fly or take a boat ride to Pig Island.
