Timeshare Owners in Hawaii Say Aloha to Easier Entry

Posted on July 08, 2021

Vacationers heading to Hawaii who are vaccinated against COVID, including owners of Disney timeshares, Wyndham timeshares and all other timeshare owners, can now enter the state without the need to undergo testing to avoid quarantine. It is part of the state’s plan to ease restrictions, and eventually end all COVID-related travel restrictions once 70 percent of the state’s population is vaccinated.

The state has already rolled out its vaccine passport program for locals which has led to the reopening of inter-island travel without the need for pre-travel testing. As of the time of this writing, 58 percent of Hawaiians have been fully vaccinated while 65 percent have received at least one shot. This has led to the expansion of the vaccine passport program to extend to all in-bound travelers who have been vaccinated anywhere in the US and not just in Hawaii.

Visitors will need to upload proof of vaccination to the state’s Safe Travels website and carry a hard copy of their vaccination card with them.

Occupancy for businesses is also lifting, with restaurants allowed to operate at 75 percent of capacity. However, Hawaii timeshare owners will still need to bring their masks with them as the mask mandates remain in place until vaccinations reach the 70 percent threshold.

Kauai Bubble is Lifted

Kauai officials have also announced the end of their resort bubble program, which is huge news for Kauai timeshare resorts which were not part of the program. Especially for Wyndham timeshare resorts such as Wyndham Kauai Beach Villas, Wyndham Makai Club Cottages, Wyndham Shearwater, Wyndham Bali Hai Villas and Wyndham Ka'Eo Kai resorts, owners can now travel directly to their resort without the need to first quarantine elsewhere upon arrival.

Oahu is also at Tier 5, which means timeshare resorts such as Disney Aulani Resort will be at its best since the start of the pandemic. Social distancing will still be required at Aulani but restaurants and bars are open with the exception of ‘AMA’AMA Restaurant. Masks are optional in outdoor settings but are required indoors in public areas unless guests are seated and participating in a meal.

For Disney Aulani timeshare owners looking for a workout, the Mikimiki Fitness Center remains closed. The good news for visitors looking for some stress relief is that the Laniwai Spa is open for that long-awaited massage.

Some activities at Aulani have been temporarily suspended so for more information please check the Disney Vacation Club website by clicking here.

Wyndham Timeshare Updates for Hawaii

The ease of Hawaii travel restrictions is particularly good news for Wyndham, as the company has over 20 timeshare resorts throughout the state as part of their program. Keep in mind that housekeeping services are conducted between guest stays but are suspended while timeshare units are occupied. The Temporary Flexible Cancellation Policy is set to expire on July 11, so owners and Club Wyndham members should make any changes before then or confirm their reservations with Wyndham.

Below is a quick update on popular Hawaii resorts in the Wyndham timeshare network:

Wyndham at Waikiki Beach Walk – resort is open and the fitness center is currently open. Keep in mind there is no onsite restaurant so guests will need to plan for off-site meals.

Club Wyndham Royal Garden at Waikiki – accommodation is limited so members should book as soon as possible. Kid’s Club is temporarily closed. No onsite restaurants but all timeshare units have kitchen facilities.

Waikiki Marina Resort at the Ilikai – units have kitchens for in-unit meal preparation but resort does not have an on-site restaurant. Resort is in the Ilikai complex but not all businesses within the complex may be offering services so it is best to check. Air conditioning is available for a fee.

Club Wyndham Kona Hawaiian Resort – fully equipped kitchens and in-unit washer/dryer so guests can limit exposure in public indoor areas. No elevators to second floor units.

Club Wyndham Mauna Loa Village – onsite activities have been suspended but amenities such as swimming pool, hot tub and fitness center are open. Timeshare units feature in-unit washer/dryer and full kitchens but the closest restaurants and shopping are about two miles away.

Club Wyndham Royal Sea Cliff – rental cars are recommended as the closest grocery store is about two miles away. Units have full kitchens.

Wyndham Kauai Beach Villas – beachfront location so no need to leave the premises to get to the beach. Full kitchens for easy meal prep. Wyndham is encouraging visitors to pre-book activities and excursions on the island as well as restaurant reservations at least a month prior to arrival.

Kauai Coast Resort at the Beachboy – onsite restaurant is available although units have kitchens for in-unit meals as well. Onsite beach for easy beach access. Kid’s Club is temporarily suspended.

Club Wyndham Bali Hai Villas – unit availability is limited so members are encouraged to book as soon as possible to confirm travel dates. Resort is not air conditioned but units have ceiling fans. Kitchens are in all units and rental cars are recommended since businesses are not within walking distance from the resort.

Club Wyndham Ka Eo Kai – golf and tennis facilities at the resort for easy access. Kitchen facilities in units but no onsite restaurant. Movie rentals for in-unit entertainment options. Laundry facilities onsite.

Club Wyndham Shearwater – golf course next to the resort and beach access nearby. No air conditioning in units due to the trade winds, but ceiling fans are in units as are kitchens for healthy meal prep. No onsite restaurant.

Wyndham Makai Club Cottage – self-contained private cottages provide a peaceful vacation experience away from the crowds. Cottages feature all of the comforts of home with full kitchens and multiple living areas, but no air conditioning due to the cooling trade winds. Golfers will love the Makai Golf Course next to the resort. Due to the secluded nature of the complex, there is no onsite restaurant.
