Posted on November 04, 2022

Ko Olina means "Place of Joy" and a Ko Olina vacation will be filled with many joyful memories. This master planned vacation spot is a gated community with four man-made lagoons, miles of white sand beaches, and some of the best weather on Oahu, perfect for a Ko Olina timeshare vacation.

It is located on the leeward (Western) side of the island, giving vacationers unbroken views of Pacific sunsets, and inward vistas of the Waianae Mountains. The atmosphere at Ko Olina tends to be quieter than in resort communities in Honolulu or Waikiki - inviting a peaceful Hawaiian retreat filled with relaxing games of golf, afternoons on the lagoons, and enjoying the shopping and dining destinations.

On the Water in Ko Olina

Ko Olina's biggest draw is the four man-made lagoons which were built to provide safe swimming harbors. While the waves outside the lagoons are often rough and choppy, inside, the water is calm and sheltered.

These lagoons shaped by sandy beaches and the shallow, sheltered waters are ideal for swimming, even for young children and casual swimmers. The luxurious Ko Olina timeshare resorts are located on one of the lagoons, providing both easy beach access and beautiful scenery.

The beaches are connected by five miles of walking trails that link them with the various resorts. During a day at the lagoon, you can relax in beach chairs, swim, or try out water activities like Stand-Up Paddling, kayaking, and snorkeling.

Nor should you miss out on a serene trip out onto the Pacific during your Ko Olina vacation. The Ko Olina Marina is Hawaii's only private deep-draft marina. From here, you can launch a boat or hire a chartered sunset cruise or sport fishing voyage.

Scuba diving and snorkeling on the open water offers a nice variety from the more reserved lagoon snorkels, while whale-watching tours during the annual migrations give vacationers the chance to see these majestic mammals up close and personal.

Land Activities in Ko Olina

Besides a day on the water, your Ko Olina vacation should take in many of the area's dry land charms. The Ko Olina Golf Club has been ranked as one of the best golf courses in Hawaii. Its Golf Academy, retail shop, and restaurant complement its extensive 18-hole course, which overlooks some of Ko Olina's best scenery and ocean views.

While staying at your Ko Olina timeshare, you can also find a variety of shopping, dining, and spa experiences to help you relax and enjoy every minute of your time in the area. Ko Olina Station and Ko Olina Central are the places to go when you want to buy souvenirs, gifts, and dine out.

Exploring in the Ko Olina area is at its best along the five miles of walking trails that link the lagoons and beaches together. It is a great way to survey the area and find the ideal lagoon for your day at the beach.

For challenging hikes you may want to consider traveling to the windward, or eastern, side of the island, where moderate to strenuous trails can be found including favorites like Makapuu Point and Diamond Head.

Other Oahu Destinations

Oahu is a diverse island filled with myriad attractions, beaches, and places to sightsee. During your Ko Olina vacation, you can certainly spend your days enjoying that joyful corner of the island, but if you want to explore further, several day trips can be done within a one or two-hour drive.

Honolulu, the capital of Hawaii, is about 24 miles away and can be reached in about thirty minutes, traffic permitting. This city is home to some of Hawaii's most famous landmarks including the Pearl Harbor National Memorial, Iolani Palace, where the last monarchs of Hawaii lived, and the Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve, a watery paradise home to much of Oahu's native plants and animals.

While visiting Honolulu, turn south to Waikiki Beach and its surrounding community. This famous Oahu resort area is filled with recreational activities both on and off the water, live entertainment and concerts, and the Waikiki Aquarium and Honolulu Zoo, both top attractions for those on a Ko Olina vacation with their families.

Waikiki Beach Hawaii

From November through February, Oahu's famed North Shore hosts many world surfing championships, and you can watch as the world's best surfers go up against its wintery 30-foot waves. The legendary swells become gentler in the summer, making this a great getaway for more casual surfers, swimmers, and snorkelers.

While visiting the North Shore, you will also want to tour the Polynesian Cultural Center, which celebrates the stories and culture of the original settlers of the Hawaiian Islands. You should also stop by the artsy Haleiwa Town, home to enclaves of artists, musicians, and several unique shops and restaurants.

Best Times to Visit a Ko Olina Timeshare

Since it is located on the leeward side of Oahu, Ko Olina's weather is sunny and fairly dry year-round, so outdoor activities can be enjoyed almost year-round with few interruptions. Perhaps it is natural, then, that a Ko Olina timeshare vacation is a popular choice for both families and couples all year long.

The peak of tourism in Ko Olina is during the summer, particularly in July and August. Families with young children love to take advantage of the summer vacation to compete in their favorite water sports, go swimming in the lagoons, and enjoy the relatively low humidity and calm weather, particularly compared to the windward side of Oahu.

The second peak for tourism stretches from December through March, particularly during the weeks coinciding with winter and spring break vacations but remaining fairly popular for the whole winter because of its relatively low rainfall and beautiful weather. Tourists coming from colder climates especially love visiting at this time of year.

Ko Olina is at its quietest in the late spring and fall, so if you want to enjoy its busiest and most popular lagoons at its quietest, you may want to consider visiting around May or September. As always, the weather is ideal for outdoor activities both on and off the water, and it may be easier to book your favorite timeshare accommodations and find seats at your favorite Ko Olina restaurants during the quieter times of the year.

Top Ko Olina Timeshare Resorts

This area is fairly new for timeshare development, as most of the major names have locations staked out at Waikiki Beach. This is great news for vacationers looking for a more laid-back trip without the crowds that can quickly congregate on Waikiki.

Ko Olina features two timeshare resorts within the 640-acre gated community of the Ko Olina Resort & Marina - from brands that are known the world over for quality and fun:

Marriott's Ko Olina Beach Club

Located on a pristine beach overlooking Nai’a Lagoon, Marriott's Ko Olina Beach Club has everything you need for a spectacular Hawaiian vacation. The resort is next to Ko Olina Marina and just down the road from the Golf Club, but with this wonderful location you’ll find it hard to leave the resort grounds.

Choose from the heated pool, children’s pool or whirlpool spa when you’d like a change from the beach, or indulge in a massage or body treatment at Spa by the Sea. Grab a drink at the Nai’a Pool Bar or a bite at Longboards Bar & Grill, and don’t miss the Fia Fia Polynesian Dinner Show.

Studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom units have your comforts in mind, with the multi-room villas hosting living room, dining area, full kitchen, patio or balcony and in-unit washer/dryer for easy clean up when coming in from the beach.

Disney's Aulani Vacation Club Villas

Right on Lagoon One, otherwise known as Kohola Lagoon, Disney's Aulani Vacation Club Villas are just across the street from the Ko Olina Golf Club in a marvelous spot for a Disney Vacation Club beach vacation.

Multiple pools, four whirlpool spas and Rainbow Reef where you can snorkel and swim with fish are just the start of the fun. The beach is perfect for any age, with beach chairs, umbrellas and boogie boards. And children ages 5-12 will love the supervised activities at Aunty's Beach House.

The pampering continues at Laniwai – A Disney Spa, while drinks are served at Wailana Pool Bar, Off the Hook or The ‘Olelo Room. Enjoy dinner at Makahiki, which also hosts Disney character breakfasts. Remember to book the KA WA‘A – A Lu‘au at Aulani for a delightful Polynesian dinner experience for the entire family.

All of this is possible from your deluxe studio unit, one-, two- or three-bedroom villa accommodation, with villas offering full kitchens, washer/dryer, living room, dining area and balcony or patio.

Timeshares at these resorts are quickly scooped up off the resale market, so sellers may be thinking of selling timeshare and buyers may need a licensed agent to find the right timeshare to suit their needs. Either way, use the services of our licensed agents who can do the work for you.
