Sand Harbor Beach

Sand Harbor Beach is located just south of Incline Village township, in Nevada within the Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park. Incline Village is one of the largest towns in Lake Tahoe and the primary town on the Nevada side of the lake. This town is home to many local favorite restaurants and some of the top Lake Tahoe timeshare resorts in the region. 

The Sand Harbor Beach is a stunning shoreline for visitors and locals to enjoy outdoor activities and there’s access to a boat launch, paddleboard, kayak and jet ski rentals. On warm days, this sandy beach is perfect for sunbathing, swimming, volleyball, waterskiing, and more. Sand Harbor also has a quaint picnic area in the shade of pine trees and snack bars for food and beverages. 

Things to do Near South Lake Tahoe

Some of the most beautiful lake-view trails are located in the town of South Lake Tahoe. These trails bring out the stunning scenery of Lake Tahoe and the surrounding mountains. There are multiple trails that offer family-friendly terrain and distance, and there are other trails that provide a more intense experience. 

The Cascade Falls trail is a great family trail with little elevation gain and around 2 miles round trip. There are gorgeous views throughout the whole trail from Cascade Lake, to Cascade Falls and back to Lake Tahoe. 

Mount Tallac is southwest of Lake Tahoe and the Mt. Tallac trail is around 10 miles round-trip with an elevation of 3,200 feet. It will definitely be worth the trek to be able to see panoramic views of Lake Tahoe. 

Additionally, you can have a different kind of walk - around Village Shopping Center for dozens of unique gifts and fashion items. Right next door is The Shops at Heavenly Village with ice-skating, live music, and lovely restaurants. 

Skiing and Snowboarding

If you’re looking for a ski resort near South Lake Tahoe and Stateline, Heavenly Ski Resort is just the place. Right on the California-Nevada border, this resort meanders into both states with 97 runs and 30 lifts and has space reserved exclusively for beginners so you can perfect the runs. Take the gondola from South Lake Tahoe up to the resort at any time of the year, since the resort hosts fun activities during the summer months as well and the views are terrific. 

Further north is the Diamond Peak Ski Resort in Incline Village. The resort has 30 runs over 655 acres and claims to have the best glade runs in the entire Lake Tahoe region. Mount Rose is a little further but has the highest ski elevation in Nevada at 9,700ft. 

On the western side of the lake in California, Palisades Tahoe was home to the 1960 Winter Olympics and has some of the best slopes in the Lake Tahoe area. Located in Olympic Valley, this resort has 3,600 acres of skiing terrain and more than 170 trails. 

At an elevation of 6,200 to 8,200 feet, Palisades is perfect for all ski levels. There are designated areas for beginners and approximately 25% of the slopes are at a beginner level. This area gets about 450 inches of powdery snow per season, so you and your family have plenty of time to learn how to ski or snowboard!
