dunes and beach on Long Beach Peninsula

Surrounded by five state parks and miles of hiking trails, there is no end to the outdoor possibilities. Some of the activities that are near your Ocean Park timeshare are:

  • Walking for miles on the beach. Enjoy the solitude and be a beachcomber. This is one of the longest continuous beaches in the country, so take a picnic and spend the day watching the waves and finding treasures.
  • Hiking through a diverse ecosystem in Willapa National Wildlife Refuge. The beach and diverse ecosystems haven’t changed in centuries. Along with beaches and dunes, there are 11,000 acres of grasslands, mudflats, freshwater and saltwater marshes, and coniferous forests. You will surely view some wildlife, including endangered animals as 200 species of animals live in the refuge. Along the Tarlatt Slough Trail, there is a blind where you may see raptors, swallows, shorebirds, Roosevelt elk, and maybe a black bear. Endangered animals include the brown pelican, the great blue heron, peregrine falcons, golden-crowned kinglets, and marsh wrens.
  • Another possibility is the Discovery Trail. It runs from Port of Ilwaco to Long Beach and is 8 ½ miles long. You will see art installations, an ancient spruce grove, tidelands, wetlands, and dunes.
  • Riding a horse on a trail along the beach and through the rainforest. There are also plenty of trails for biking.
  • Thrilling amusement park rides with a taste of the past at the vintage amusement park The Rides at Long Beach, WA. Bumper cars, Tilt-a-Whirl, the Octopus, and Rock-o-Plane are there for an adrenalin rush, and a carrousel, and other easy rides for the little ones. Nearby are restaurants, souvenir shops, and art galleries.
  • Walking The Art Trail is a wooden boardwalk where you can stroll by University of Washington student artwork. It mainly has illustrations of Cutthroat Creek’s waterways and the local wildlife.
  • Fishing, clamming, and crabbing are big draws to the area. With the richest razor clam grounds in Washington and Oregon as well as celebrated crabbing and oystering, it’s a fishing hot spot. Salmon, albacore tuna, and halibut are plentiful along the Long Beach Peninsula. You can bring home your catch and cook it to your taste in your fully equipped kitchen.
  • Playing golf at Peninsula Golf Course on the peninsula, or right outside your front door at Seaside Golf Club next to the WorldMark Surfside Inn.

The Peninsula Arts Center offers live entertainment, and an open mic every Friday. Weather permitting, the concerts are outdoors. In case of inclement weather, the entertainment moves indoors.
