Best Marriott Timeshares for Winter Getaways

Posted on February 10, 2022

Marriott Vacation Club is as popular as ever, with over 400,000 club members and 60 resorts in its portfolio in key destinations across the U.S., Central America, Caribbean, Europe, Asia and Australia. And now, with Australia reopening to international visitors beginning February 21, Marriott timeshare owners can visit Down Under to explore one of their most popular bucket list destinations.

Gold Coast Australia

The Marriott hospitality brand has been part of the timeshare industry since 1984, becoming the first major hospitality company to become involved in timeshare. Now, after decades of servicing owners, Marriott is one of the largest vacation ownership companies in the world.

Marriott timeshares began as fixed week ownership but eventually grew into the point-based club program that they promote today. In 2010, the company rolled out its Marriott Vacation Club Destinations points program, then offered existing owners the chance to convert their weeks into points. Some chose to convert, but many retained their week ownership.

The reason we mention this is because the resale market is now the only marketplace where both types of ownership can be purchased. Marriott ceased to sell fixed weeks years ago, but thousands of Marriott owners still own and use their weeks - looking to sell their Marriott timeshare weeks as resales when they can no longer use their ownership.

This is why you will see the resorts shown below as some of the best Marriott timeshares for winter getaways, because prospective buyers continue to place offers and inquiries onto ownerships at specific resorts.

Marriott Timeshare Resorts for Winter

Resorts shown below are the most popular according to those offers and inquiries. Because the customer is always right, who are we to argue?

The resorts are shown in reverse order, meaning they countdown to the most popular resort shown last. Yes, this means you’ll need to read down to see who comes up number 1, but these are all wonderful resorts in their own right. Just depends on where you want to go and your type of desired vacation.

So, here it goes.

Marriott's MountainSide (Park City)

Skiiers next to resort

For millions of vacationers, winter means snow. Whether it is skiing, snowboarding or gathering around a fire pit, travelers seek out timeshare destinations to enjoy the snowcapped mountains and hit the slopes.

There are few better options than Park City, and Marriott’s Mountainside is one of the best. With ski-in, ski-out access to Park City Mountain, you will love the location as well as the choice of your studio, one- or two-bedroom villa.

Marriott's Timber Lodge (South Lake Tahoe)

Another of the terrific winter wonderland options in the Marriott network is Marriott's Timber Lodge, with its South Lake Tahoe location perfect for access to the Heavenly Mountain gondola and the fantastic skiing and winter sports options.

Ski valet and Ski Butler service is available and since you’re in the Heavenly Village, all the shops, bars and restaurants are right there for you to explore. Just choose from one-, two- or three-bedroom timeshare villas and you are all set.

Marriott's Desert Springs Villas II (Palm Desert)

Resort with mountains in back

For those looking for an escape to the Palm Desert/Palm Springs area, there is no better time than during the winter months. High temperatures range from 68F to 76F, much more comfortable than the scorching 100+ temps during the summer.

For the best that the region has to offer, position yourself at Marriott's Desert Springs Villas II. From your one- or two-bedroom villa, you are next to the Desert Springs Golf Club with great access to the Joshua Tree National Park and Palm Springs Aerial Tramway.

Marriott's BeachPlace Towers (Fort Lauderdale)

There’s a reason why so many “snowbirds” flock to South Florida for the winter, and Marriott's BeachPlace Towers provides everything you need for a great vacation.

Right on A-1-A and steps from Fort Lauderdale Beach, you are just around the corner from the famed Las Olas Boulevard district and its high-end shopping and dining experiences. One- and two-bedroom vacation villas offer the space and comfort you need, while the kid’s activities keep the little ones entertained.

Marriott's Aruba Ocean Club (Palm Beach, Aruba)

What better place to escape the winter cold than amazing Aruba, and Marriott's Aruba Ocean Club is an annual go-to resort that is one of the most popular in the Marriott timeshare network.

Right on Palm Beach and next to the Stellaris Casino complex, everything is here from the crystal-clear Caribbean Sea to the pool, hot tub, onsite café, bars, restaurants and the tranquil Mandara Spa. One- or two-bedroom villas provide all the comfort and privacy to make this an amazing vacation.

Marriott's Maui Ocean Club (Lahaina, Maui)

Spectacular Kaanapali Beach is the setting for Marriott's Maui Ocean Club, where you can indulge in everything that makes Maui so special.

Not only can you relax on the beach, swim in the refreshing Pacific Ocean and take in the wonderful views of the neighboring islands, but this Polynesian paradise has great golf, whale watching, sunset cruises and adventures into the Iao Valley just waiting for you. One- and two-bedroom suites among the Lahaina and Napili towers provide everything for a relaxing holiday.

Marriott's Ko Olina Beach Club (Kapolei, Oahu)

Ko Olina is an oasis on the western shore of Oahu, less than an hour from Honolulu but an eternity away from the crowds and jostling of Waikiki. Part of the 640-acre gated Ko Olina complex, Marriott's Ko Olina Beach Club is the definition of what a Hawaii vacation should be.

The beach along the lagoon is ideal for families, while the multiple pools, bar, restaurant and Spa complement the one-, two- and three-bedroom villas. In-unit washer/dryer is great for coming in off the beach.

Marriott's Grand Chateau (Las Vegas)

Las Vegas is better than ever with residency shows in 2022 featuring Shania Twain, Luke Bryan, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, Carrie Underwood, Usher and the iconic Cher leading the way. With venues open and back to capacity, it’s a great time to head to Las Vegas while daytime temps remain under 80F.

Marriott's Grand Chateau gives you the full experience, only a half-block off the Strip but everything within walking distance from your one-, two- or three-bedroom villa. Don’t miss the rooftop SkyBar 38 with incredible views of Vegas.

Marriott's Aruba Surf Club (Palm Beach)

lazy river

Another of Marriott’s impressive Aruba offerings is the Aruba Surf Club, directly on Palm Beach and next to its sister resort, Ocean Club.

Beyond the white sand and remarkably clear waters of the Caribbean, you’ll also have multiple pools with a lazy river and whirlpool, tennis, volleyball, onsite bars and restaurants and Kid’s Club for the younger ones in your group. You will also have access to the Mandara Spa and Stellaris Casino just down the road.

One, two- or three-bedroom villas come with sperate living and dining areas, kitchen and washer/dryer for simple clean up after the beach.

Marriott's Grande Vista (Orlando)

Yes, it wouldn’t be timeshare without the mention of Orlando, and Marriott's Grande Vista is a tremendous complex off International Drive and close to SeaWorld, Disney and all of the Orlando theme parks.

Multiple buildings with studios, 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom villas are spread across the 164-acre complex, with four pools, adjacent lake with boat rentals, and numerous bars and restaurants.

Kids will love the MAZE indoor kid's playground while Mom and Dad can take some swings at the adjoining Grande Vista Golf Club before relaxing at The Spa at Grande Vista.

Superb destinations are located across the Marriott Vacation Club resort network, and the best way to secure vacations at your favorite resort is by buying timeshare or buying Marriott Destination points.

Ownership gives you a leg up on the best resorts, time of year and size of accommodation, since these resorts are in high demand.
