Disney has recently expanded its timeshare offerings here, as DVC points owners have access to an additional 200 new Resort Studio suites to complement its existing range of accommodations. With its white-sand beach, world-class dining, and the full-service Senses Spa, the Grand Floridian beautifully combines proximity to Disney’s first theme park with an indulgent resort experience.
Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows, situated on the southern shore of the Seven Seas Lagoon, is part of the second original Disney hotel dating to the Magic Kingdom’s opening in 1971. The Polynesian offers quick access to the Magic Kingdom via the resort monorail link as well as a fun boat ride across the Lagoon.
The resort's South Pacific theme ensures a tranquil escape from the park's excitement, while its easy distance from Magic Kingdom makes it a popular choice among DVC members. Check out the fireworks from the banks of the Lagoon as well as the Electrical Water Pageant. New Disney timeshare villas at the Polynesian are set to debut in late 2024, giving even more options to Disney points owners.
In a lush, woodland environment designed along a Great Northwest theme, both Boulder Ridge Villas and Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney's Wilderness Lodge offer a rustic retreat while staying conveniently close to the Magic Kingdom.
Both villa options, while in separate parts of the resort complex, are linked to the Wilderness Lodge with access to all resort amenities. The most unique of the accommodation options are the two-bedroom lakeside cabins that feature a hot tub inside the screened porch area overlooking the lake.
Although the resort does not have direct monorail access, it offers a dedicated boat service that transports guests straight to the Magic Kingdom from its perch along Bay Lake, providing a scenic and leisurely alternative to reach the park.
While this resort is more known for its close access to EPCOT Center, Disney's Beach Club Villas offers the ability to easily enjoy both parks. Especially for visitors with multiple day, multi-park passes.
The resort is about 100 yards from the international entrance to EPCOT, so after making your way past France and Britain, head to the park entrance to pick up the monorail and over to the Magic Kingdom. Keep in mind that you’ll need to transfer along the monorail line at the Transportation and Ticket Center, but at least you won’t have to drive.
Another of the Disney timeshare resorts closer to EPCOT, Disney's Boardwalk Villas is an attraction is itself with access to the wonderful Disney Boardwalk themed after early 1900’s Atlantic City.
About a 5-to-10-minute walk is all you’ll need to get from the resort to EPCOT’s international entrance, then take the same walk through the park to the main entrance to board the monorail. The monorail will take you to the Transportation and Ticket Center where you’ll transfer to the monorail line that takes you directly to the Kingdom.
Although not as close as the previous resorts, Disney’s Riviera Resort deserves an honorable mention. As a relatively new addition to the DVC, this resort is inspired by the charm and elegance of Europe's Mediterranean scene.
To get from the Riviera Resort to the Magic Kingdom, you can take the short Skyliner gondola ride to EPCOT, then take the monorail from EPCOT via the Ticket Center to the Kingdom. The resort’s slightly further location is offset by its high-end amenities and the unique transport experience offered by the Disney Skyliner.
Remember that all Disney timeshare resorts offer complimentary bus transportation to the Magic Kingdom as well as the other parks within Walt Disney World. Some travelers may prefer using the bus system, depending on their location, but the resorts above all provide alternatives to using the bus.
