Posted on April 05, 2022

Vacation travel planning is back in full swing, with a new report from loyalty program provider arrivia stating that 69 percent of Americans plan to travel this year. Of those travelers, 80 percent will travel more or about the same as they did last year.

Reports from the Orlando Disney theme parks are that wait times for some of the most popular rides are as much as three hours. Even though officials will not comment whether the capacities are back to normal, the demand is definitely back to visit the parks. And just wait until the new Guardians of the Galaxy coaster opens at Epcot next month!

All of this is great news for Orlando and Orlando timeshare resorts.

How Important is Orlando to Florida Tourism?

Orlando has traditionally been the number one visitor destination in America. Even at the height of COVID in 2020, 21.6 million people came through Orlando airport with over 35 million visiting the region according to Visit Orlando.

By the end of 2021, Florida was exceeding pre-pandemic 2019 visitor numbers for Q4. While the overall 2021 visitor numbers for Florida still fell short of 2019 record levels, over 122 million people visited the Sunshine State last year.

Just to give you an idea of how important Orlando is to the Florida tourism sector, in 2019 out of the 131 million people visiting Florida, nearly 76 million went to Orlando, or about 58 percent of the total number of visitors. The big boost in Florida’s 2021 total is sure to be reflected in Orlando visitor numbers due to be released later this Spring.

So, with a big bounce back in travel to Orlando, the reigning “timeshare capital of the world” is sure to see impressive visitor growth in Orlando timeshare occupancy.
