What makes a great Valentine’s Day getaway? It is the romantic atmosphere, the couple’s activities or just a chance to get a break from the kids and concentrate on one another? Maybe all of the above.

With Valentine’s Day fast approaching (is it February already !?!) now is a good time to think about a quick retreat from the chaos. And a tip for the guys – this takes more planning than the last-minute stop at the 7-Eleven for a card and some flowers from that basket next to the door. Yeah, you know who you are.

Fortunately for those last-minute planners, today’s timeshare programs offer more options than ever thanks to the flexibility of the programs. Points-based ownership lets you take a long weekend away, and with Valentine’s Day falling on a Monday this year, it’s a great time for a quick trip.

If you own a fixed or a floating week of timeshare and need options, try contacting your exchange company like RCI, II or even 7Across. They can expand your travel choices beyond your home resort.

Yes, I realize that the Super Bowl is that Sunday before Valentine’s but stay with me here. With top timeshare resorts, you can do both – watch the Big Bowl and be romantic in the same weekend.

For such exclusive details about the best Valentine’s Day getaway locations, we’ve asked Cupid to take a look at the list of timeshares for sale in our system and the offers and inquiries from our buyers. If you don’t know who Cupid is, you may have more relational issues than you realize.

Timeshare Destinations for Valentine’s Day

Below you’ll see our list of destinations and timeshare resorts with some themes that can make your retreat a lot of fun.

Cancun

Westin Lagunamar Resort Cancun

By now you’ve probably had enough of winter and are looking for some warmth and sunshine. There is no better place than Cancun, with spectacular beaches, great restaurants and amazing activities.

At Westin Lagunamar Ocean Resort, you will have access to the Heavenly Spa for a relaxing couples massage, and the Duna Sports Bar to watch the game. For an incredible dining option, head to Casitas at the Ritz Carlton to dine right on the beach in your own private cabana.

Park City

Doesn’t everyone at some time have that vision in your mind of snuggling up with your spouse or partner in front of the fireplace or perhaps out in a horse-drawn sleigh ride? Park City can definitely provide your favorite romantic winter wonderland activities.

Westgate Park City Resort & Spa has award-winning options at seemingly every turn. Try the Edge 360 Dining Experience where you have dinner in an Alpenglobes outdoor dining pod, a heated private globe to enjoy an amazing meal surrounded by wonderful views.

San Diego

Southern California is aways a great place for a getaway, and San Diego has plenty of Valentine’s Day ideas. How about checking out some of the top wineries in the state?

Thankfully, Welk Resorts San Diego is in Escondido and close to a number of excellent wineries in the area. Hungry Hawk Vineyards and Orfila Vineyards are two, with Bernardo Winery close by as well. Orfila is open on Monday for tastings and reservations are not required, whereas Hungry Hawk and Bernardo are only open on the weekends and reservations are recommended.

Aruba

This is one of the most beautiful, laid-back places on the planet, which is why Aruba makes for such a great Valentine’s Day destination. Marriott's Aruba Ocean Club is right on one of the most iconic spots on the island, Palm Beach, and you’ll find spectacular beachfront dining next door at Atardi.

For a more active option, try kayaking through the mangroves at Mangel Halto in search of tropical marine life, then hit the water for some snorkeling. Then return to the resort to soak away in the hot tub, grab a cold one at the pool bar or head to the Mandara Spa for a massage.

Kauai

Princeville Kauai Hawaii

The Emerald Isle is a perfect place to escape for a tropical Hawaiian retreat, and Princeville offers a wonderful blend of beaches, natural beauty and romance.

Walks along secluded beaches such as Hideaway Beach sets the mood or explore Hanalei National Wildlife Refuge for a true back to nature experience. And head over to Chocolat Hanalei if you absolutely can’t go without chocolate. Wyndham Bali Hai Villas is the ideal resort to relax and venture out for your daily Kauai delights.

Wisconsin Dells

Sneak away for a Valentine’s Day snuggle in Wisconsin Dells and take in all the romance that this winter utopia can provide. Head to Christmas Mountain for a day or two on the slopes or rug up for a sleigh ride through the woods. If fine dining is in your plans, try one of the themed rooms at House of Embers.

It’s all possible from your timeshare at Bluegreen Resort's Christmas Mountain Village, which has a fun indoor pool complex, and you can sip a cocktail at the onsite Mulligan's Bar N' Grill before retreating in front of the fireplace in your unit.

Sedona

One of the most tranquil places on Earth, Sedona is an inviting destination for a Valentine’s Day trip. Try floating above this stunning landscape with your spouse or partner in a hot air balloon ride and watch the colors transform as the sun rises. Or slip away in the evening with a bottle of wine to watch the sunset over the mountains. And what better place to stargaze?

Diamond Resorts Los Abrigados Resort and Spa is the idyllic place to host your journey, where you can also enjoy a massage, soak in the hot tub or sip some vino at the Timo Wood Oven Wine Bar.

Maui

Kaanapali Beach Maui

How can anyone go wrong on Maui, and the world renowned Kaanapali Beach, for a romantic interlude? Fabulous beaches, epic scenery and the laid-back culture come together for a brilliant time.

This is the ideal time for a whale watching excursion as the Humpback whales frolic in their breeding grounds just off the coast. Combine it with a sunset cruise for even more romance. Diamond Resorts Kaanapali Beach Club sets the stage as you relax by the pool, on the beach or head into Lahaina for fine dining.

Eastern Tennessee

Whether you are in Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge or Sevierville, eastern Tennessee offers numerous spots to celebrate with your loved one. It starts with the Smokies, as the Great Smoky Mountains provide an amazing backdrop for a wonderful dinner or searching out the scenic overlooks for the perfect proposal spot.

Try a ride up the Ober Gatlinburg Aerial Tramway for terrific views of the region. Afterwards, retreat to your timeshare at Wyndham Smoky Mountains resort and unwind in the indoor pool, sauna or hot tub.

Las Vegas

Wyndham Grand Desert resort

Plan that Elvis wedding if you must, but there are many more romantic activities to take part in during a Las Vegas vacation. Can’t make it to the Eiffel Tower in Paris? Fear not, since you can scale the top of the replica tower in Vegas for great views of the Strip.

The Venetian hotel has an impressive canal winding through its massive bar and restaurant area and you can ride a gondola along the canal with your loved one. There are also helicopter rides, ziplines and some of the best dining experiences in the world. Wyndham Grand Desert can make it all possible with a full concierge service to plan it all out for you.
